UKRAINE-CHINA ONLINE AGRICULTURAL TRADE FORUM
On May, 18 business representatives and industry leaders from Ukraine and China gathered at online forum "Ukraine-China: The Future of Trade, Pulses, Grains, Oilseeds," to discuss the development of cooperation in agricultural sphere.
The forum was co-organized by the Community of Pulse Producers and Customers of Ukraine and China chamber of commerce of foodstuffs and native produce (CFNA).
While attending the forum, Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Fan Xianrong said that in recent years, bilateral trade had been constantly growing and China had become Ukraine's largest trade partner.
Agro-products play an important role in trade partnership between Ukraine and China. Business representative believes that there is a possibility to strengthen cooperation in such fields as growing crops and processing agro-products.
However, at present moment there are several obstacles that restrain bilateral trade between two countries, for example Ukraine can't export peas and beans to China due to phitosanitary agreements which have not yet been confirmed by China.
China looks forward to importing Ukrainian pulses in the nearest future. Main importers signify their interest in buying beans and peas from Ukraine but first batches of these commodities won’t go to China until all the necessary governmental agreements are settled.
President of the SPPBU Antonina Sklyarenko, CFNA President Cao Derong, and business representatives from both countries believe that agricultural trade between China and Ukraine will be even more vigorous in the nearest future.
